5 MW Isolated Power System - Voltage and Frequency Stability Study Completed

Remote Islanded hydro generators on BC’s west coast supply power to coastal communities at 25kV. The system suffers from extreme voltage and frquency excursions due to distribution system faults and load loss.

Fast switching reactors and resistors were identified as the solution. The project is now in the funding and and detailed design stages.
